Abstract

592,453. Primer loading machines. GORDON, H. H. (Pennsylvania Manufacturing Co.). March 21, 1945, No. 7099. [Class 9 (i)] [Also in Group XXII] A rotary work-table, which may be used for bringing priming head casings for shells successivety into positions for the introduction of percussion elements &c., is supported by a stationary base in which relatively divergent slots carry synchronously movable members coacting with a pawl and a series of concentric pins downwardly projecting from the worktable. The table 1 and base 4 are coaxially mounted on a pintle 2, the base being formed with slots 5 and 6 to house an oscillatory lever 11 and spring-loaded reciprocating plunger 27 respectively, the rods 21 and 33, reciprocated by cams, moving the members 11 and 27 synchronously. A pawl 14 is pivotally mounted on the lever 11 and is urged by a spring 17 to engage between a series of radially located pins 8 downwardly projecting from the work-table. The spring-loaded reciprocating member 27 is slotted to fit the pins 8, and is disengaged from them by the rod 33, whereupon the rod 21 moves the lever 11 causing the pawl 14 to move the work-table to the next indexed position. On the return stroke of the lever 11, the pawl rides past the next pin 8 and engages in the following gap, the rod 33 having been withdrawn and the member 27 moved forward to engage the next pin in the series. Worksockets 3 are provided in radial alignment with the pins 8.
