[Class 6 (i)] A cultivator for hoeing between growing crops comprises a wheeled, hand-propelled, frame provided with a pair of brackets carrying flat discs intended to penetrate the soil on each side of a crop row, the discs being set by the brackets at an inclination from the vertical towards one another, and each disc being flanked by a flat hoe blade on its outer side. In the form shown, the machine comprises a main frame 1 supported on wheels 9, each of the spindles of the wheels being mounted in one of a vertical series of holes in the frame members 1. A pair of tool-carrying brackets 11 is mounted rearwardly of the wheels, the brackets being transversely adjustable in a slot 3 between cross-members 2 of the frame. Mounted on the brackets 11 are rotary disc coulters 12, and flanking the discs are hoes 13. The discs 12 are adjustably mounted in a vertical slot in the bracket 11, and are adapted to be set at an inclination from the vertical towards one another. The spindles 12a of the discs are formed with flats which locate in this slot and are locked therein by nuts 12c. A flange on the end of the spindle 12a is enclosed in a lubricantfilled cup 14 integral with the disc, thus permitting rotation of the disc on the stationary spindle 12a. The stems 13a of the hoes are secured in slots in a boss 11b on the bracket by screws 16. Propelling handles 4 at the rear of the machine are independently adjustable in height, length and width.
