[Class 52 (ii)] Aircraft cabin seating accommodation comprises two oppositely disposed chairs having frames mounted on pivoted supporting members so that they can be moved from positions appropriate to daytime use to rearwardly retracted positions, and auxiliary frames housed in the chairs beneath the seat cushions and adapted to be extended to constitute with the chair frames a full length bunk. As shown, Figs. 1 and 3, each of a pair of outboard chairs comprises a seat frame 12 mounted on four pivoted legs 13, and a back 15 pivoted to a frame 12 and connected to the bulkhead 10 or 11 by lugs 16 working in a slotted bracket 17. A telescopic stay 24 normalily holds the legs in position shown. An auxiliary frame 20, provided with pivoted legs 22, is hinged at 19 to the frame 12 and supports a removable seat cushion 21. A pair of similar inboard chairs have seat frames supported on pivoted legs at their inboard sides only and releasably connected at their other sides to the frames 12. The inboard chairs have hinged seat trays 121 supporting removable cushions 23. The outboard and inboard chairs have fixed arm rests at their outboard and inboard sides respectively, and a hinged arm rest 18 is provided between the chairs. To convert the chairs to a bunk, they are pushed back to the position shown in Fig. 5, a catch being released to allow each stay 24 to collapse, and the seat cushions 21 removed to allow the frames 20 to be swung out to extended positions where they are supported by the legs 22. The cushions 21 are then replaced and the cushions 23 used to complete the bunk. The seat stays 121 of the inboard seats are then swung upwardly. By fitting a canvas covered framework across the two inboard chairs and using the four chairback squabs, the bunk can be enlarged to accommodate two people.
