Abstract
588,729. Heating by circulation of fluids. SULZER BROS. (LONDON), Ltd., and JODER, F. Nov. 29, 1944, No. 23830. [Class 64 (ii)] [Also in Groups XVIII, XXXVII and XXXVIII] In a hot water storage system, each storage vessel C is so connected to the source A of hot water and to the point F or points where the hot water is to be utilized that a narrow layer is maintained between the hot and colder water in the vessel both during the charging and discharging periods, and thermally responsive elements G-G<10> at a number of vertically spaced positions in the storage vessel are so connected to a single indicator H that the latter indicates the number of elements respectively in the hot and. cold zones at any moment and hence the proportions of hot and cold water. Hot water from the boiler A is delivered by the pump B to the tank C through a sparge pipe C<1> the openings in which ensure that only a narrow layer separates the hot and colder zones. Hot water from the tank is circulated through a heating system F by a pump E' and is returned through a second sparge pipe C<2>. The elements G-G<10> are electric resistance thermometers connected in series to the indicator H (see Groups XVIII and XXXVIII].
