Abstract
588,566. High - frequency discharge apparatus. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd. Oct. 4, 1944, No. 19064. Convention date, April 28, 1943. [Class 39 (i)] An ultra-high frequency electron discharge device for use as an oscillator has beam-forming means comprising cathode 13, focussing electrode 14 with aperture 14<1>, accelerating anode in the form of a. tubular member 16 with partitions 17 and 18 with aligned apertures 17<1> and 18<1>. Directing rods 19 and 20 lie within the tubular member and direct the beam on the aperture 27 of the resonator which consists of a pair of coaxial tubular members 21 and 22 closed at the top and bottom by elements ,23 and 24 of ammlar shape, the. walls of the resonator having apertures 27, 28, 29 and 30 aligned with each other and with the apertures 17<1> and 18<1>. Electrode elements 25 and 26 are mounted on opposite walls within the resonator for deflecting the beam across aperture 29. A tubular member 31 extending towards aperture 29 has aperture 31<1> across which beam is directed to collector 15. Energy is extracted through coupling loop 41. A circuit arrangement for the cathode heater and potential supplies is shown.
