Abstract

588,364. Magnetrons; electric resonators. PATELHOLD PATENTVERWERTUNGS- & ELEKTRO - HOLDING AKT.-GES. April 6, 1944, No. 6498. Convention date, March 17, 1943. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (iii)] A magnetron or other ultra-high-frequency oscillator is associated with a cavity resonator 4 whose tuning can be varied by means of a pair 7 of Lecher conductors whose magnetic field is at right angles to that of the resonator so that interference with the mode of oscillation is avoided. Oscillatory energy is extracted by means of a coupling 6 from the interior of the annular hollow resonator 4 whose inner wall is formed by the segments 2, 3 of a magnetron, these segments being connected alternately to the flat end plates of the resonator. The electric vector is parallel to the filament 1 and the magnetic vector is circumferential in planes perpendicular to this filament. One of a pair of Lecher conductors 7 is connected conductively or capacitively to a segment 2 and the other to a diametrically opposite segment 3, and the termination may be a variable inductance or capacitance, a thermionic impedance, a tuned circuit -such as a cavity resonator, or a short-circuiting stirrup. The Lecher conductors may be enclosed in a metal tube to prevent radiation and may serve as a support for the resonator and also for a glass envelope containing it. To this end their inner ends may be bent into the axial direction and protrude, Fig. 2 (not shown).
