Abstract

588,331. Surface condensers. WILKINSON, F. C. W., and CRANE PACKING, Ltd. Feb. 9, 1945, No. 3338. [Class 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIX] To prevent vortex motion and consequent erosion of a liquid conduit, e.g., the cooling water inlet pipe of a marine condenser, a grid 1, Figs. 1, 2, is placed across the entrance of the conduit with rubber &c. tubes 3 of substantially venturi form inserted in the apertures of the grid. The tubes are formed with hexagonal &c. flanges 4 which protect the grid.
