Abstract
587,766. Reciprocating pick-breakers. NORTON, G. Jan. 17, 1945, No. 1385. [Class 59] In a vertical pick-breaker in which breaking takes place on a resiliently mounted oscillating tray H, or on a pair of such trays, there is incorporated with the tray a compensating device comprising a system of levers C, on one side of the tray, connected through a shaft A to a similar system on the other side so as to prevent a one-sided depression and consequent distortion of the tray or trays. The tray H is pivotally suspended by links K, J from the levers C which are rigidly connected to the shaft A which latter is mounted in bearings B on the framework. Each pair of levers C carry at their ends pins D flexibly supported by springs E and suitably loaded by means of eye-bolts F to take the normal load.
