Abstract
Yellow monoazo pigments are manufactured by diazotizing 2-nitroaniline, optionally substituted (preferably in the 4- or 5-position) by halogen, e.g. chlorine (preferred) or bromine, atoms or alkyl or alkoxy groups, and coupling with 2-methyl-3-chlor-acetoacetanilide. The products may be ground in lithographic varnish to produce inks, or incorporated in nitrocellulose lacquers. Examples describe the use of the following diazo components: (1) 2-nitro-4-chloraniline; (2) o-nitroaniline; (3) 2-chloro-4-amino-5-nitrotoluene; (4) 2-nitro-5-chloraniline.
