Abstract

586,153. Spark-gaps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., WILKINSON, K. J. R., and SCOTT, T. H. April 15, 1943, No. 6088. [Class 39 (i)] A triggered spark-gap, for example of the kind described in Specification 580,003, has one or more perforated plates 8 interposed between the main electrodes 1, 2 in order to increase the voltage range over which reliable triggering occurs. The plates are of insulating material such as fired soapstone and they are effective both in deionizing at high voltages and in producing corona at the lower voltages. A blast of air is blown transversely through openings 4, 5.
