[Class 97 (i)] The microscope consists of a base d; a spring blade a mounted at one end parallel to the base on a wall c; a Coddington or other simple lens b, which may be moulded from plastic material, carried at the free end of the blade above a forked part of the base ; a milled focusing nut above the blade engaging a screw f mounted on the base and passing through a hole in the blade; a slide-illuminating reflector pivoted in the forked part of the base ; and a pair of stages e on the forked limbs of the base d, which support the ends of a slide so that it rests between the lens and reflector.
