Abstract

585,523. Flow meters or indicators. STOKOE, C. L. Feb. 26, 1945, No. 4716. [Class 69 (i)] A fluid meter or indicator comprises a case a containing a spindle rendered fluid tight by means of resilient washers g and h, the spindle being rotated by the pressure of the fluid flow against a flap q. One side of the metering chamber is formed by a resiliently loaded plate p whilst a deflector placed adjacent the outlet d constraints the direction of flow past the flap. The flow indicating capacity of the meter can be varied by varying the eccentricity by means of a bush o of the chamber. The tip of the flap is tapered, the tapering facing the impinging flow in order to obtain a stream line flow, whilst a by-pass s connects the chamber behind the side plate to the low pressure side of the meter in order to improve the resilience of the plate.
