Abstract

584,355. Supply systems for welding arcs; transformers. - GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRIEDLANDER, E. Dec. 11, 1944, No. 24757. [Classes 38 (ii) and 38 (iv)] In twin-electrode arc welding by two-phase current the stabilizing inductance in each arc circuit is supplied wholly or in part by providing the transformer therein with a magnetic leakage path constituted by an adjustable laminated bridge F, the laminations of which are interleaved with those of the yoke and are displaceable transversely thereof, means being provided to clamp bridge and yoke together when adjusted to provide suitable inductance. The two transformers may have a common core member to constitute a single structure, and have Scott-connected primary windings to operate on a three-phase supply. The interrupted laminations of the bridge member F may be of insulating material.
