Abstract

583,557. Ventilating apparatus. AKESTER, J. C. Oct. 26, 1944, No. 20897. [Class 137] [Also in Group XXVI] A ventilating fan unit comprises a fan 15 mounted in an air duct 14 with means for mounting said duct in a wall or the like, and with an air deflector member 26 on one end of the duct coaxial with the fan, having a trumpet shaped outer surface and one end 31 adjacent the fan of the same diameter as the hub 21 of the fan. The fan is preferably constructed as described in Specification 543,557, [Group XXXIII], the bore of the hub 21 being tapered at each end in order that the fan may be centrally located on the shaft 23 between a fixed cone 24 and an adjustable cone 25. The deflector 26 (see Group XXVI), is secured to the front portion 16 of the duct 14 by three equally spaced bolts 27, passing through the distance pieces 28 which space apart two annular deflector members 34, 35 conforming in shape to the deflector 26. The ends of the deflector 26 are closed, the inner end 31 having a flat surface 32 while the outer end has an outwardly curved disc 33 secured to it by the bolts 27. The duct or casing 14 (see Group XXVI), is mounted in a wall 11 by the flanged annular member 18 screwed on to the flanged body portion 16 of the duct to form an annular groove to engage the wall.
