Abstract

[Classes 39 (ii) and 39 (iii)] [Also in Group XL] A filamentary electric heating element comprises a plurality of bifilar windings 12, 13: 14, 15; 16, 17, Fig. 1, arranged round a central rod 22, which serves as a terminal lead, the closed ends of the windings being mounted in a number of equally spaced transverse slots 32, one to each slot, which are formed in a castellated connector 26. In the assembly of the filament, the connector 26 is attached to the end of the rod 22, e.g., by welding, and each bifilar winding is positioned in its respective slot. The open ends of the windings are welded to their respective leads 18, and the closed ends are then welded into the top portion of the connector 26.
