[Class 56] In a method of making circumferential joints in composite hollow glass bodies, the component parts, e.g., two pieces of of tube 3 and 4, are heated by radiation from an electricallyheated tubular metallic strip 1 encircling them and supported on the inner surface of a ceramic housing 2. The heater strip material may be that known by the Registered Trade Mark " Kanthal ".
