Abstract

582,426. Building blocks. GLUGSTON CAWOOD, Ltd., and HATCHARD, M. GALLAI-. Nov. 18, 1943, No. 19303. [Class 87 (i)] For building walls of A.R.P. blocks and enabling window &c. openings, bays, corners &c. to be completed without cutting the blocks auxiliary units are used in combination therewith of a size such that a multiple thereof with allowance for mortar joints makes up the exact volume of the block, for example bricks of 1/12 size or 1/6 size and slabs of 1/3 size. Fig. 4 shows a wall built mainly of full size blocks a with the gaps around the window d, sill e and lintel f filled in with auxiliary blocks b of 1/12 size and slabs c of 1/3 size. The blocks are fabricated in light weight concrete such as by mixing cement and foamed blast-furnace slag.
