580,431. Sharpening disc cutters. FARRELL, J. F. June 14, 1944, No. 11373. [Class 60] [Also in Group VI] The rotating disc knife a of a bacon &c. slicer can be sharpened by a pair of spring loaded grinding wheels band c mounted on spindles d and e carried by racks k and j which are actuated by a pinion r to bring both wheels into and out of grinding position, the whole device being mounted to engage the disc knife at a low position beneath the path of the food holder, and concealed from view, the racks being operated from the front of the machine by a knob and a spindle s, there being no direct handling of the grinders. The grinding disc c comes into operation before the smoothing disc b and also finishes its operation after the other disc. A guard q may be provided to conceal the grinding apparatus.
