Abstract

580,222. Hand trucks or wheelbarrows. THIRSK, W. H., NEGRIJN, J., NEGRIJN, J. F. L., and REES, T. V. June 20, 1944, No. 11737. [Class 108 (i)] The sheet-metal platform 11 of a hand truck is welded at its down-turned edges to the horizontal portions 5 and at its ends 12 to the vertical portions of a tubular metal frame 2 which includes the handles 7, legs 4 and 6 and the guard rack 3 constructed from a single piece of tubing. The bearings 9, 9a for each wheel 1 are supported by the horizontal portions 5 of the frame and the cross tube 10 welded to the reinforcing bars 8 which are welded to the frame 5. The downpressed ribs 14, 14a on the platform and sides provide additional rigidity. The platforms of a wheelbarrow constructed similarly tapers towards the front while the axle for the single wheel is supported by longitudinal tubes welded to the reinforcing cross tubes which are welded to the frame.
