Abstract

579,708. Aircraft. MENDELSSOHN, H.-E. July 24, 1944, No. 14100. [Class 4] An aircraft fuselage is fitted with a plurality of sliding doors closing openings therein, the doors being so arranged that when brought from the closed position they do not overlie or obscure adjacent openings in the fuselage, thus allowing easy access to any desired part of the fuselage. In the form shown, the fuselage compartments 12, 16, 22 are provided with doors in the form of roller shutters 13, 17, 23, opened by sliding in the vertical direction, and the compartment 14 is provided with doors in two halves sliding upwardly and downwardly respectively for opening and closing. Horizontally sliding doors 19, 21 are fitted to the remaining bays 18, 20. The doors may be provided on both sides of the fuselage, and automatic locking devices 24 may be fitted.
