Abstract

579,146. Extrusion presses. ROSE, DOWNS, & THOMPSON, Ltd., and HINDSON, F. J. C. Feb. 21, 1945, No. 4354. [Class 46] A lining for the press cage of a screw expeller press is formed from arcuate members, each preferably lying on a plane at right angles to the axis of the press. As shown, elements 12 of half-ring form are secured side by side in a cage which is in two parts 10 hinged together by means of a member 11 passed through bosses 10a, 10b carried by the parts of the cage. Each element 12 is flat on one side and on the other side which is tapered towards the outer periphery, is provided with a rib 12a and projections 12b, 12c, 12d arranged to space the elements properly when assembled with slots for passage of the expressed liquid. The projections may be replaced by loose spacing strips.
