Abstract
579,123. Electric primers. BULL, V. G. Oct. 6, 1939, No. 27406. [Class 9 (i)] An electric primer for explosive charges comprises a case 10 for the priming charge 21 and a conducting rod in the form of a screw 15 retained against flanges 13 on the head by insulating washers 14 and nut 17, the heating filament 19 being wound round an insulating sleeve 18 on the end of the screw and embedded in the charge. The primer may be used for igniting a cordite cartridge for discharging torpedoes.
