578,042. Sealing metal to ceramic materialsÀ GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., FRANCIS V. J., and KETTLEWELL. E. Nov. 14, 1941, No. 14672. Addition to 534,310. [Class 36] [Also in Group XXIII] Relates to the method of sealing a quartz rod 1 surrounding a conductor-lead into a quartz envelope 11, as described in the parent Specification. According to the present invention the annulus 2 surrounding the rod has an upper surface which is plane, or nearly plane, and fits closely against the surface on the envelope, which also is nearly plane. The hole 4 is made of such a diameter that the rod 1 fits into it with but little shake.
