Abstract

577,862. Catalysts. PEEL. D. H. P., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 11, 1943, No. 491. [Class 1 (i)] An active carbon prepared from coconut shell and activated only by treatment with a gaseous oxidizing agent is impregnated with a solution of a platinum compound (e.g., platinic chloride), decomposing below 400‹C., and heated in a hydrogen-containing atmosphere. The potassium and zinc contents of the carbon together should be not more than 0.3 per cent. Specification 577,813, [Group IV], is referred to.
