Abstract

577,565. Pallets for lifting -trucks. GLOSTER, A. Sept. 30, 1943, No. 16069. [Class 78 (iv)] A pallet or stand for use with an industrial truck having a forked or like lifting member is made of steel or other suitable metal. As shown, the pallet comprises two identical shallow U-shaped metal sheets or pressings a welded or otherwise joined together to form a shallow open-ended box-like structure. In the construction shown the sheets a have deep corrugations b and are provided with transverse stiffening members d. Small projections e on the outer surface also increase the stiffness and tend to prevent the load slipping. Modifications are described in which the stand comprises, or is provided with (1) upper and lower plates spaced apart by distance pieces, (2) a single corrugated or other steel plate stiffened by a channel member if necessary, (3) a tray formed with legs at the corners, these legs extending above the tray and being formed with sockets to receive the legs of another tray, so that the trays can be stacked one above another and may serve as storage bins, (4) hinged arms or levers at each side, normally folded out of the way and provided with rollers for engaging the ground so that the stand may be wheeled about by hand if desired, and (5) telescopic members so that the area of the stand may be varied. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 568,923 and U.S. A. Specifications 1,922,560 and 2,099,051.
