Abstract

577,517. Treating water sewage &c. FARRER, Ltd., W. E., and FARRER, W. G. May 29, 1944, No. 10351. [Classes 46 and 111] Flocculation apparatus for the treatment of water, sewage or other liquids comprises one or more members, as for example, paddles, immersed in the liquid and carried by a frame to which movement is imparted by an eccentric, crank or cam so as to cause the member or members to move in an orbit or circular path. As shown, a settling tank 1 is provided at one end with rows of flocculation units, each consisting of a number of paddle devices 5 carried by rods 6. The rods are connected to straps 13 encircling discs 14 eccentrically mounted on shafts 4 which are adapted to be driven by a motor 19. The rods pass through slotted platforms 17. The devices 5 consist each of two paddles 7 adjustably secured to end members 8 which are adjustably mounted on pins 9 projecting from sleeves 10. The sleeves are held in place on the rods 6 by set screws.
