Abstract

575,550. Centrifugal governors. ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT CO., Ltd., and BURTON, D. G. March 1, 1944, No. 3859. [Class 57] The centrifugal weights of a governor, which move between rotary plates or cones f, g converging together outwards, are constituted by roller or ball bearings, the inner and outer races of which each contact with one of the plates or cones ; the cone g is of two different angles corresponding with high and low speeds. It may be loaded by two springs m, n; the first spring operates alone at low speeds ; at somewhat higher speeds there is an interval with no governing, solely.under the operator's control and the second (heavier) spring operates at speeds above this interval in conjunction with the steeper of the two angles of the cone. The weights are positively driven through dog-teeth formed by slots in the disc f ; stubs on the inner race roll on the lands between these slots. In another form, the weights are driven frictionally from the cone, and the disc is provided with grooves and lands and may have a drive, in addition to the friction drive, through the springs, which are then connected to a rotating part. Specification 467,550 is referred to.
