Abstract
573,875. Electric couplings. ABBEY, A. (Ohio Carbon Co.). Dec. 21, 1943, No. 21411. [Class 38 (i)] A removable coupling for sparking plugs &c. incorporating a resistance, consists of an insulating cylindrical body 10 having a central bore 11 from one end carrying a resistance 20 and a compression spring 26 abutting one end 31 of a laterally extending coil spring. The other end 30 of the coil spring serves as a connector, for example to a sparking plug A whilst connection of the lead B to the other end of the coupling is made by projections b on the lead engaging an annular groove 14 on a metallic sleeve 12 embedded in the end portion of the body 10, the said sleeve having a lead plug 25 providing connection to the resistance. The spring 30 may be secured by a screw 27, Fig. 1, or by a rivet, or alternatively the end 31 may be moulded into the body. In a further alternative, Fig. 6, the coil spring is secured by a screw 50 or a rivet passing through a loop 34 on the spring and connecting with the spring 26.
