Abstract
573,170. Discharge apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and GIBSON, W. T. March 3, 1944, No. 4045. [Class 39 (i)] In a thermionic valve having.two coaxial metal tubes 2 and 3 passing through the envelope to convey current to an electrode, the outer tube 2 is sealed through the envelope and the two tubes are fixed together at their ends inside the envelope by an insulating seal, the inner tube being also closed at its inner end. In the example shown, the sealing means comprises a barbel-shaped ring 20 of glass. In modifications, a solid or a channelshaped ring may be used. Cooling air may be blown into the space between the two tubes. A baffle 28 is provided for guiding 'the flow, part of the air leaving through holes 29 and part through holes 16. An insulating spacer 24 may be provided at the other end of the tubes. Specification 469,584 is referred to.
