Abstract

572,276. Centre squares. MOORE & WRIGHT (SHEFFIELD), Ltd., and MORRISON, A. E. Dec. 21, 1943, No. 21433. [Class 97 (iii)] In measuring instruments comprising a centre head adjustable along a rule in which the centre head is provided with a slot-to take over the rule in such a manner that the angle formed by the arms of the centre is accurately bisected by the edge of the rule inaccuracies due to wear are offset by means of eccentric rollers 13a mounted in the centre head and adjustable about their axes to bring the bisector of the angle and the edge of the rule into coincidence. The eccentric rollers 13a are locked in adjusted position by means of a screw 12, 14 drawing the roller face against a shoulder 16 on the bearing. The usual clamping means is provided comprising a olamp bolt 8 passing through the centre head and engaging a groove 17 in the rule and having a knurled nut 9. A release spring 10, together with a screw 11, are provided to enable the clamp bolt to be moved to hold the centre head in reverse position.
