Abstract

570,947. Carburetters.' STUPECKY, L. F. May 8, 1944, No. 8674. [Class 7 (iii)] Fuel admitted to a constant-level fuel chamber 24 by an inlet 26 flows through a passage 40 into a fuel well 39 communicating with a mixing chamber 12 and the throat of a venturi 21 by an idling jet 52 and a main jet 45 and connected to an air inlet 10 by a passage. 41 so that a partial vacuum is created in the fuel well and float chamber during operation. A buoyant fuel metering receptacle 42, having a fuel inlet opening 43 in its end wall 42A, positioned in the fuel well controls the flow of fuel to. the jets through different length tubular extensions 55 and 46A. The cross-section of the venturi throat is adjustably varied to suit different size engines by means of concentric tubular restrictors 59, 60, 61, 62 and 63, telescopically arranged about the pin 56. It is stated that this carburetter operates efficiently over a wide range of altitude without the aid of a fuel pump, or a vacuum fuel supply tank, irrespective of the position of the main fuel supply tank relatively to the carburetter.
