Abstract

570,841. Cleansing compositions. PROCTER & GAMBLE CO. Jan. 29, 1943, No. 1559. Convention date, Feb. 20, 1942. [Class 91] Cleansing compositions comprise a sulphate or sulphonate detergent and an amide of the formula R.CO. NR'R" added thereto, wherein R.CO is an acyl radical of a fatty acid having 10 to 24 carbon atoms and R' and R" are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen and alkyl radicals having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, the sum of the carbon atoms in R' and R<11> being less than 5. The latter compounds specified are those derived from lauric, myristic, capric and mixtures of fatty acids predominant in any of these acids such as coconut oil and palm kernel oil fatty acids, and also N-alkyl substituted amides such as diethyl lauramide, methyl myristamide, and methyl propyl capramide. The sulphate or sulphonate detergents specified comprise watersoluble salts of sulphonic acids, alkyl sulphuric acids, and sulphuric acid esters of polyhydric alcohols incompletely esterified with a fatty acid of high molecular weight. The actual compounds specified are those exemplified in Specification 572,304. Specifications 328,675, [Class 91], and 573,470 also are referred to.
