Abstract

569,748. Commutators for dynamoelectric machines. SIGMUND. F., and HLAVIN, W. S. Aug. 12, 1943, No. 13101. [Class 35] Moulded insulation is applied to the windings of dynamo-electric machines so that they can be immersed in liquid and the commutator (or slip rings) with the brushes are disposed in a liquid-tight compartment. The commutator may be of the internal cylindrical or radial annular surface type. In the form shown, the stator and rotor windings are embedded in moulded insulation 19 and the internal commutator 37 is enclosed by the housing 34 mounted on the shaft and the cover 43. Air or gas under pressure is supplied to the commutator compartment through the duct 53 which serves also for the passage of the brush leads.
