Abstract

568,596. Sleeve couplings. FERGUSON, A. D., HAMELBERG, F. J., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Oct. 22, 1942, No. 14855. [Class 38 (i)] A cable coupling for high frequency circuits comprises a split socket contact 14 embedded in a moulded body 17 of Polythene and cooperating with a plug 4 of slightly larger diameter than the bore of the socket. The plug may be embedded in a similar moulded body 7. The moulded bodies 7, 17 are keyed to an outer metal housing 8, 18 by grooves 8a, 18a, as described in Specification 556;548 and an outer moulding 10, 20 may be similarly keyed at 8b, 18b to the housing to cover both the joint between it and the cable sheath 9, 19 and the end of the outer wrapping 9a, 19a. During the moulding of the body 17 on to the socket 14, a dummy plug is inserted. The socket may be built up of two halves sweated together over a portion of their length to leave a split socket at the end.
