Abstract
Insecticides and fungicides comprise a halogen-substituted naphthoquinone and a carrier therefor other than a solvent. Other insecticides or fungicides or insect repellants, fertilizers, hormones, and buffering agents may be added. Seeds, cotton, rope, fur, hair, wool, or leather may be treated with the compounds. When the preparations are used as dusts, the carrier may be talc, clay, or infusional or diatomaceous earth. The compounds may be used as a spray with a suitable carrier. The following compounds are specified: 2 : 3-dichlor-1 : 4-naphthoquinone, 3-chloro-1 : 2-naphthoquinone; 3 : 4-dichlor-1 : 2-naphthoquinone, 2 : 6-dichlor-1 : 4 - naphthoquinone, 2 - chlor - 1 : 4 - naphthoquinone, 1 : 5 - dichlor - 2 : 6 - naphthoquinone, trichlornaphthoquinones, 5 : 6 : 7 : 8-tetrachlor-1 : 4 - naphthoquinone, 2 : 5 : 6 : 7 : 8 - pentachlor - 1 : 4 - naphthoquinone, hexachlor - 1 : 4 - naphthoquinone, and halogen substituted naphthoquinone chlor imides. The halogen may be bromine, and possibly iodine or fluorine.
