Abstract

567,903. Filters. HEATHER, F. July 23, 1943, No. 12031. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXVIII] A filter screen comprises a plurality of brushes having bristles radiating from a central stem, which brushes are arranged parallel side by side in a frame with the bristles intermeshing and a foraminous wall is slidably mounted in the frame to bear on and deflect the bristles. This screen with the bristles having been dipped in oil, may be inserted in the intake trunk of an air-conditioning system. One form of screen is shown in sectional elevation, Fig. 1, and sectional plan, Fig. 3, wherein the brush stems h are inserted through slots g in top and bottom channel members a, b of the frame, these channel members being spot-welded to two pairs of side members c-d, e-f. The bristles of the brushes are deflected to S-shaped form by woven wire plates i, j slidingly inserted in opposite directions along the channel members a, b. Bristles k<1> of the end brushes project beyond the sides of the frame to ensure a close filtering fit when the screen is inserted in a trunking, fixing being effected by means of flange pieces 1<1> on the channel members a, b. An arrangement with two rows of brushes is described, Figs. 9-11 (not shown).
