Abstract
Textile materials composed wholly or partly of wool or other animal fibre, in the form of loose fibres, yarns, fabrics, or garments, are treated with anhydro-carboxyglycine in order to reduce their tendency to felt when washed in aqueous liquor. The materials are treated with a solution of anhydrocarboxyglycine in an organic solvent, such as ethyl acetate or acetone, by dipping, spreading or spraying, and the solvent is removed by washing, or by drying in air at room or elevated temperatures. The treated materials may be subjected to a baking operation at, for example, 90 to 100 DEG C., or, alternatively, the materials may be treated in a heated solution of anhydro-carboxyglycine. Examples are given.
