Abstract

567,074. Magnet coils. IGRANIC ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and WRIGHT S. R. May 12, 1943, No. 7559. [Class 35] [Also in Group XXXVI] A coil 7 is wound on a perforated former 1, through the perforations of which is threaded, prior to the winding operation, a metallic lead 2 serving as a connection to the inner end of the coil, the lead being anchored by bending its end over so that it is clamped against the wall of the former. The lead terminates in a metal plate 8 carrying a terminal lug 9 which is made rigid with the coil by a wrapping of perforated stiff paper or cardboard 14 surrounding the coil and having an enlarged perforation through which the lug projects. Mica or other strip insulation 10 is arranged between the lead and the outer surface of the winding. A plate 11 carrying a terminal lug 12 and attached to the outer end of the winding is similarly held by the wrapping 14. After impregnation, which is facilitated by the perforations in the former and wrapping, the coil is wound with tape 15 which covers the exposed portions of the lead 2.
