[Class 104 (ii)] A metal sleeper has lugs c punched out of it to form a chair, and each lug has welded &c. to it an extension d, one of which engages the rail web, while the other engages the key j. Ribs h may be formed on the top of the sleeper to strengthen the lugs, and similar ribs g may be formed on the undersurface. The rail may be seated on an inclined upward pressing f of the sleeper.
