566,503. Boxes for transplanting seedlings. BENISON, W. B. March 12, 1943, No. 4075. [Class 18] [Also in Group I] Seedlings are lifted in a sheath 1 by means of a detachable handle 7, and are retained in the position to which they are transplanted by a disc 10 and members 16 while the sheath is withdrawn. Lugs 4 are provided on the sheath for engaging hooks 8 on the handle 7 which is secured as by welding to a flanged ring 5. The disc 10 may be hinged or slotted for passing the stem of the plant. Parts 17, 19 upstanding from the ring 16 afford clearance during withdrawal of the sheath, and extend downwardly to footplates 20. During transfer, plants in sheaths may be held in a box 21, having spring-retained top bars 25. Specifications 566,528, 566,529 and 566,530, [all in Group I], are referred to.
