Abstract

Ethylene oxide is recovered from dilute gaseous mixtures by absorbing the ethylene oxide in an aqueous solvent, treating the solvent under reduced pressure with air or inert gas to expel the ethylene oxide, and absorbing this from the resulting mixture at a higher pressure in a smaller quantity of aqueous solvent than that used in the first stage. The first solution may be stripped at a pressure of 50 min. of mercury, and the amount of solvent in the second stage may be one-tenth of that of the first. Specification 533,054 is referred to.
