Abstract

562,524. Rotary machines. GOSS PRINTING PRESS CO., Ltd. March 22, 1943, No. 4648. Convention date, April 21, 1942. [Class 100 (ii)] Inking-apparatus.-In an inking apparatus for a rotary printing machine, particularly one using water base inks, a forme-inking roller 31 is positively driven from the press at a speed instantaneously variable during running, e.g. by means of a belt 37 of trapezoidal section connecting a grooved pulley 35 on the roller 31 with a variable diameter pulley 36 on the shaft of the impression cylinder 11. The pulley 36 comprises two parts 40, 41, Fig. 2, pressed together by a spring 43 and its diameter is adjusted by varying the tension of the belt 37 by means of a roller 48 adjusted by a screw 52. The distributing drum 24, duct roller 21, transfer roller 22, which may have a spiral or a number of circumferential ribs, the duct blade and the inside of the duct may be formed of rustless material or may be chromium plated, and the rollers 23, 25, 26, 27, 30 and 31 may be of rubber or composition.
