Abstract

561,540. Lamps for lighting. HOLOPHANE, Ltd. Feb. 17, 1942, No. 2114. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1940. [Class 75 (ii)] A lens for projecting concentrated light beams in controlled direction comprises upper and lower lens pieces 10, 11, the inner lens piece 10 nearer the light source LC being formed with prisms so shaped that the centres 23, 28, 30 from which the issuing light rays 25 at increasing distances from the centre of the lens appear to emanate are at increasing distances from the lens and the outer lens piece 11 being formed with prisms which concentrate the light rays 24 into a parallel beam. The light source may be displaced by as much as 30 degrees to points 15, 17, Fig. 1, or a point Lc, Fig. 2, while still giving a parallel beam. The prisms may be concentric or rectilinear and an elongated light source may be used.
