Abstract

561,093. Mullers or pulverizers. DEHN, F. B. (Beardsley & Piper Co.). Oct. 30, 1942, No. 15298. [Class 59] A mulling-apparatus in which a muller travels round the side wall of a cylindrical receptacle has a lining of vulcanized rubber detachably secured to the wall and a replaceable ring - shaped outer base around which scrapers are carried. The mullers 9, Fig. 1, are carried on freely pivoted arms 66 mounted on a cross-head 36 which is rotated by a central shaft 39 through a worm 54. The receptacle has a metal side wall 7 supported on the bottom 12 and is provided with a detachable rubber lining 13 made in sections and secured by bolts 26. The lining is formed to provide spaces 30 which add to its resilience. The bottom comprises a central ring 12 formed in one with a tubular part 17 enclosing the shaft housing and with a depressed extension forming a seat for the removable outer ring 15 ; the outer part of the extension is formed as a flange 18 with a lip 20 forming a seating for the wall. Scrapers 10, Fig. 2, depend from the outer ends of the cross-head and the apparatus is provided with a side door 32.
