558,693. Condensers. HUNT, Ltd., A. H., and REINHARDT, E. Aug. 17, 1942, No. 11537. [Class 37] In a condenser, the capacity of which can be adjusted by means of disconnecting sections of an electrode in grid form, a second grid electrode is provided adjacent to the first and preferably at one end of a condenser stack. The capacity of one section of one of the grids to one of the adjacent full electrodes of opposite polarity is less than that of any section of the other grid to the nearest full electrode of opposite polarity. Preferably the grid electrodes 21, 22 are of the same polarity and the two nearest full electrodes are of opposite polarity, and the grid sections are arranged to cross one another as shown. By disconnecting sections of one or both grids, a fine adjustment of capacity can be obtained. A pressure plate may be interposed in the stack between the grids and their associated full electrodes and the remainder of the electrodes.
