556,586. Vacuum packages containing foodstuffs &c. WINGFOOT CORFORATION. March 13, 1942, No. 3359. Convention date, Nov. 21, 1941. Drawings to Specification. [CLass 140] [Also in Group XVII] A vacuum package containing, e.g. foodstuffs such as ground coffee, Swiss cheese, natural cheese, meat loaves &c. is constructed from composite sheet material consisting of laminae of regenerated cellulose and rubber hydrochloride the laminae being joined by an adhesive and being in some cases secured to a paper cloth, open mesh fabric &c. lamina for strengthening, this layer being preferably joined to the cellulose. The hydrochloride may contain a plasticizer, a pigment or dyetuff and a light stabilizer, and may be of a thickness ranging from .0008 inch to .0015 inch. The cellulose film may be .001 inch thick. The adhesive may be nitrocellulose lacquer, a cyclized rubber adhesive or a urea-formaldehyde adhesive. The package may be sealed by heating juxtaposed hydrochloride surfaces.
