Abstract
556,510. Coating with metals. PLESSEY CO., Ltd. July 18, 1942, No. 10032. Convention date, Oct. 1, 1941. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A resistance element for compression-type variable resistors comprises a mat or cloth of glass or silicate fibres impregnated with a solution of resistance material and heated to the point where the material is firmly and permariently bonded to the fibres. One impregnant is platinic chloride, the mat being baked at 350‹ C. so as to deposit a thin platinum film. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states also that a thin nickel film can be applied by heating the mat to 250‹ C. in a nickel carbonyl atmosphere. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
