Abstract

556,318. Reels for use in treating threads with liquids. COURTAULDS, Ltd., and BERRY, J. K. March 27, 1942, No. 4055. [Class 120 (ii)] [Also in Group IV] A reel which permits a travelling thread to be treated with a succession of different liquids in such manner that the liquids can be collected separately comprises a number of longitudinal bar members E fitting into slots D in solid discs B mounted on a shaft, the members E being grooved along most of their length and free of grooves at the parts where the bars fit into the slots D. The bar members project slightly from the periphery of the discs. Two reels may be used with their axes inclined at a slight angle so that the thread may be made to travel along a reel ; alternatively one reel may be used in conjunction with a series of guide hooks, or a single reel having two sets of interdigitating bar members may be employed.
