555,879. Adjusting wireless apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 22, 1942; No. 7004. Convention date, May 31, 1941: [Class 37] [Also in Group XXVI] An adjustable element 22, such as an electrical impedance, an electric switch or a fluid valve, is mounted inside an hermetically sealed container 4 which is closed by means of a corrugated phosphor bronze diaphagm 6 through which passes in sealed fashion an operating lever 48 engaging a socket 50 in a disc 43, rotation of which effects adjustment of the element 22. Movement of the rod 48 is effected by its engagement at 46 in a graduated knob 40 rotatable in a member 41. In a modification, Fig. 1 (not shown) the disc 43 is moved by intermittent engagement of a spring pawl on the operating lever when the lever is rocked by direct hand operation, The outer end of the lever may be removed after the adjustment is completed. The pawl may be arranged to rest on the disc after adjustment and serve as a locking device, or it may be free of the disc so as to prevent unintended further adjustment.
