Abstract

555,588. Purifying hydrocarbons. DISTILLERS CO., Ltd., WOOD, W. L., and BOWEN, B. E. V. Feb. 27, 1942, No. 2632. [Class 2 (iii) Acetylene, together with any hydrogen present is removed by selective oxidation from hydrocarbon mixtures by passing the mixture over copper oxide at 275-450‹C. An example is given of the removal of acetylene from admixture with methane, ethylene, -ethane and hydrogen. Specifications 288,216, [Class 2 (iii)], and 359,421 are referred to.
